The Bonsai Bulldogge is also known as Bonsai Bull. It is a miniatured size bulldog that was developed to create a dog with great personality and looks but smaller in size and easy to maintain. It is the work of Laura Kelsch of Hammerhead & Tie Lang Tou Kennels. The dog resembles to its larger counter part, the Olde English Bulldogge. It has broad and square head. Eyes are medium in size and set wide apart. The ears are usually rose type with some dogs having button or tulip type ears as well. The muzzle is deep and broad with slight to moderate wrinkling. The chest is wide, deep and ribs are well sprung. Legs are short, straight and muscular. The tail can be screwed short or docked. The coat is always short and can be of any colour. The dog has height of up to 12 inches and weight of 25 lbs or under. Closely resembling the Olde English Bulldog, the Bonsai Bulldogge is an ideal home pet with its even temperament and loveable personality. This dog has NOT been recognized by AKC or any other major club because the breed is still in development process.
The Bonsai Bulldogge can be found in any color. There is no restriction on color of the dog.
The coat of Bonsai Bulldogge is short and easy to maintain.
Loyal, courageous, active and tenacious, the Bonsai Bulldogge is known to have great personality traits to be an excellent family dog. Kind and gentle, this dog is very loving and caring to its family. The dog displays its amusing and playful nature when with children and makes great playmate with them. It can be trusted around children due to its non-aggressive and very stable temperament. It also gets along well with other dogs and pets in the family. This alert dog makes a good watchdog. It can fit into an urban lifestyle or a rural setting equally well and is a good choice for apartment dwellers as long as the owner is ready to fulfill exercise demands of the dog. Very loyal, devoted and trustworthy, the Bonsai Bulldogge is a very good dog to have as family pet.
The short coat is easy to groom with occasional brushing needed. Due to short coat, the dog will need additional protection during cold season. It is not suitable for outdoor living.
The Bonsai Bulldogge is eager to please its owner but may be less responsive than other dog breeds. It will need a firm trainer and consistent training sessions. Training should start from very young age.
This very energetic dog will need fair amount of exercise. A long daily walk or playtime in an open space where it can play with its family should take care of its exercise needs. This dog can be a good jogging and hiking companion.
