The Cheagles are hybrid dogs that are resulted from cross breeding of the Chihuahua and the Beagle. They are small sized dogs with a beagle head and chi's snout. They are loving, affectionate and family oriented dogs that have Beagle's hounding instincts in them. They are curious and playful dogs. Although Beagles are very good and tolerant with children, same cannot be said of Chihuahua. So it is wise to keep them away from children until your dog shows more Beagle behavior towards children.
They are found in a variety of colours. Most common colours are light cream, brown and white, black and white, light brown with or without white patches, solid black or brown and many other colours.
Their coat is short and shiny and requires low maintenance.
The Cheagles are very brave, dignified, loving and sometimes jealous dogs. They are very loving dogs who love to get attention. They are great companion dogs who want to spend most of their time with their family. They are loyal and protective dogs. Despite their small size, they sometimes show Chi's take-on anything attitude and need firm and consistent training. They may not be as friendly towards guests and specially visiting children.
They are low to normal shedding dogs and would not need any extra coat care. They will require protection against extreme cold or hot weather as they have small coat.
They should be trained from the start otherwise they become willful and harder to train. These dogs require firm and consistent training.
They require daily exercise and play opportunities.
