The Golden Border Retriever is a mix a of purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Border Collie. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breed dogs.
The Golden Border Retriever is a medium size dog that stands up to 24 inches and can gain weight up around 75 pounds. They are alert, intelligent and responsive dogs who are good to all family members.
These dogs are found in different colours. Common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, red, white and yellow.
They may have a Border Collie coat that is rough, dense and corded or they may have a Golden Retriever coat that is water-resistant and slightly from outer and soft from inner side.
The Golden Border Retriever dogs are very intelligent, friendly, kind, eager to please and highly active. They are very loving and affectionate with all family members. They are specially gentle, patient and playful with children and make good playmates.
These dogs have a working breed background and would need lots of mental and physical stimulation. They are not suitable for families who can not provide adequate exercising and playing opportunities to these dogs. If under exercised, these dogs will behave in an undesirable manner which can include digging, chewing and licking.
They are alert and attentive to their surroundings and will inform the family of any unusual change or of an approaching stranger. These gentle and even tempered dogs are best suited for families who can cope with their very active life style.
Their coat requires moderate to high grooming and maintenance.
They are very intelligent dogs and will learn very fast. They are very easy to train.
Having a working background, these dogs are very active and would need lots of exercise and playing opportunities. They will need a very active family and constant mental and physical stimulation to relieve their energy.
Daily walks and playing sessions for 1-3 hours daily are recommended for these dogs.
