The Golden Dox is a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Dachshund purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs. These hybrids are medium in size. They stand up to 23 inches and weigh up to 70 pounds. The Golden Dox dogs are cheerful, courageous, loyal and social. They are good with all family members and make good watchdogs. These dogs are found in different colours.
Common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, brown, red and yellow or a mix of these colours.
These hybrids can have a variety of coat types due to variety in Dachshund coats. They may have a Retriever's coat that is medium length and double coat. If Dachshund type coat is inherited, this can be one of three types, long-haired; wired-haired and smooth-haired.
The Golden Dox dogs are friendly, intelligent, gentle, alert, loyal and cheerful. They are friendly with all family members but wary of strangers. These dogs get along well with children and other dogs and pets in the family. They are easy to socialize. This makes them unsuitable as guard dogs but they will alert the family of an approaching stranger and can be good watchdogs. They are high energy dogs and would require ample mental and physical stimulation. Under exercising these dogs will develop undesirable behaviors in these hybrids. They are generally eager to play their owners and easy to train. They make good family pets.
Their coat needs regular brushing and maintenance.
They are easy to train though some dogs may show willful behavior. With proper packleader qualities and rewarding training sessions, this behavior can be dealt with easily.
These dogs require more than moderate level of exercises. They are very active dogs and love to play and go for daily walks.
