The Golden Pyrenees is a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Great Pyrenees purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs because their origination is from two different pure breeds. These dogs are large in size, standing around 32 inches and weighing 120 pounds. They are alert and intelligent dogs that are found in different colours. They are good dogs to their family but wary of strangers. They are active dogs and need lots of exercise and playing time. Due to high energy levels, these dogs need large space or a yard to play. They may not be suitable for apartment life style. They are loyal and devoted dogs that make a good watch/guard dogs as well.
These hybrids are found in different colours. Some common colours for these dogs are brown, gray, red, white and yellow or a mix of these colours.
These hybrids have double coat that consist of a longer outer coat and dense inner coat.
The Golden Pyrenees dogs are loyal, affectionate, alert, protective, playful and intelligent dogs. They are good with all family members and gentle and affectionate with small children. They like to play with children and make good playmates. They can get along well with other pets and dogs in the family provided they are given proper socialization training. These dogs are obedient and devoted to their family but wary of strangers. They have an independent nature and need a firm but gentle owner who can establish himself as pack leader. If not properly treated or if the owner is too gentle with this breed, they may become Boss around the house and try to be packleader. They are active dogs who need lots of physical and mental stimulation. If under exercised, these dogs may show destructive behaviors. They are very good family pets and watch/guard dogs if properly trained.
Their coat requires regular brushing and average grooming.
They are intelligent dogs but may show stubborn behavior. They may not be as easy to train as some other dogs. They would need firm and consistent training with owner establishing himself as pack-leader.
They are high energy dogs that need lots of physical activity to stay in shape. Daily long and brisk walks and playing sessions would help these hybrids relieve their energy.
