The Gollie is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Collie purebreds. These dogs are called hybrids as they originate from two different pure breeds. The Gollie is medium size dog standing up to 24 inches and weighing in the region of 50-75 pounds. They are alert, intelligent and loving dogs that are good with children and all members of the family. These dogs are found in different colours and may have a Collie or Retriever coat.
Common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, red, white and yellow.
They can have a long, rough and harsh outer coat with soft inner coat or they may have short coat that is spread all over the body.
The Gollie dogs are loving, affectionate, loyal and eager to please. They are obedient and loyal to their family. These dogs are very good with children and make good playmates. These dogs are cheerful and playful. The Gollie dogs love human companionship and love to be around their family most of the time. Their intelligence and eager to please attitude makes them easy to train. With proper socialization, these dogs get along well with other dogs and pets in the family. These dogs are active and need fair amount of exercise and play time. They can fit into an apartment life if ample exercise is provided to them. The Gollie dogs do not like to be left alone for longer periods of time and may develop undesirable behavior if not given necessary attention. These dogs are very good family and companion dogs that can make good watch dogs.
They can have moderate to high shedding coat and would need regular brushing. Bathe them when necessary.
Being active, intelligent and eager to please, these dogs are easy to train.
The Gollie dogs need lots of physical stimulation and would need daily walks and playtime to keep themselves fit and happy.
