BREED DETAILS

GENERAL
The Irish Doodle is a mix between a purebred Poodle and a purebred Irish Setter. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds. The Irish Doodle are medium to large size dogs, standing about 24 inches or taller and weighing anywhere between 40 to 70 pounds. These dogs are active, loving and high energy with a non-shedding coat which makes them ideal for dog-allergic people.

COLOR
The Irish Doodles are found in different colours. Common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, red and white and a mix of these colours.

COAT
The coat is shaggy and wavy. Like other Poodle mix dogs, the Irish Doodles are non to minimum shedding dogs. Their coat requires minimal grooming.

PERSONALITY
The Irish Doodles are intelligent, loyal, loving and affectionate dogs. These dogs are very good with children and generally get along well with other dogs and pets in the family. These dogs are very friendly not only to the family but with guests as well. They are clean and easy to housetrain dogs. They are very alert and attentive to their surroundings and will alert the family of an approaching stranger. The Irish Doodles are eager to please and intelligent dogs and not difficult to train. However, if Irish Setter character is more dominant, they will need consistent and patient training. These are high energy dogs and want lots of exercise unless Poodle character is dominant which will make these hybrids laid back. The Irish Doodles are very good family pets and companion dogs.

CARE
These dogs are low shedding and their curly coat will need regular brushing only.

TRAINING
The Poodles are very easy to train while Irish Setters are opposite to Poodles and may pose a challenge when it comes to training. The resulting hybrid can be easy or difficult to train. Irish Setter like hybrid would need patient and consistent training.

ACTIVITY
These hybrids can be very active and exercise savvy like an Irish Setter or they can be laid-back and not so active and would need moderate exercise only. In either case, a long daily walk is necessary for these dogs.
