The Jug is a cross between a Jack Russell Terrier and a Pug purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds. The Jug dogs are small in size and stand up to 15 inches with a weight of 20 pounds. These dogs are Pug like in their facial features having Pug like ears and short snout. Their body is lean and resembles that of a Jack Russell Terrier.
The Jug dogs are mostly found in black and various shades of caramel. They are also found in silver and white colours or any mix of black, silver and white.
They can have a Pug like coat that is smooth and glossy or they can have a Jack Russell coat that is broken coat meaning smooth and rough hair on same coat.
The Jug dogs are very active and lively dogs that are protective and affectionate to their family. They are sensitive and gentle dogs that can be very brave and fearless. These dogs may have a tendency to develop Small Dog Syndrome where these dogs think they are dominant over other dogs and humans. This behavior should be eradicated from very early age of the puppy by proper obedience training and showing true leadership qualities. These dogs are alert and active and will need more exercise than most other same size dogs. A daily walk alone will not full fill their exercise needs unless they are given lots of other physical activities. They can be good jogging partners. The Jug dogs like to be with their family and enjoy their company. They like to get attention and will do any thing to please their owners. These dogs will need proper training and socialization to be well-mannered with small children and other dogs and pets in the family. These dogs are suitable for families with large space and older considerate children. They may not be suitable for families with small children unless they are very well trained.
Care should be taken when these dogs are with children. They must also be supervised when with unfamiliar dogs as they may try to dominate dogs that are bigger.
The Jug dogs are easy to train as they love to please their owners.
They are very active dogs and like to get involved in lots of physical activities to relieve their high energy. They will need lots of play and running opportunities besides daily walks to be happy.
