The Lhasapoo is a mix between a purebred Lhasa Apso and a purebred Poodle. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds. These dogs are small in size with a height of 9 to 13 inches and weight around 12 to 20 pounds. They are very affectionate and loving dogs for their family but suspicious of strangers. They are good companion dogs with very expressive eyes. They are found in different colours and can have coat resembling a Poodle coat or a Lhasa Apso coat.
Common colours for these dogs are black, white and black and tan or a mix of these colours.
Their coat is very beautiful and luxurious. It can be curly, wavy, silky or a combination of all.
The Lhasapoo dogs are family oriented and like to be part of the family. They are loving and affectionate and like to spend their time with their owners. They are very good companion dogs. These dogs are very gentle and well-behaved with children and will make very good playmates. Their social attitude makes them very compatible with other dogs in the family. These dogs are wary and suspicious of strangers and will signal arrival of a stranger. They do mix up with guests once they are properly introduced. They are high energy dogs with intelligence and will be easy to train. They will need fair amount of physical activities to relieve their excess energy. They are very good family, companion and watch dogs.
Their coat needs normal grooming and brushing. These dogs need bath every month.
They are very intelligent dogs that can learn and perform simple to more complex tricks like their parent Poodles. They are very easy to train dogs.
These high energy dogs need fair amount of exercise and playing opportunities to be fit and in shape. They love to run and play games which involve both physical and mental activity.
