The Mountain Bulldog is a mix between a purebred Bulldog and a purebred Bernese Mountain dog. They are called hybrid dogs due to their origination from two different pure breeds. These dogs are medium in size with a height in the range of 20 to 24 inches and weight anywhere between 80 to 120 pounds. They are loving, friendly and eager to please dogs that are well behaved with all family members including children. They are found in different colours of their parent breeds. These dogs are loving and affectionate, alert and attentive and will make good watch dogs as well as very good and even-tempered family pet.
Common colours for these dogs are red, fawn, white, black and brindle.
Their coat can be like a Bulldog's short, flat and sleek or it can be like a Bernese's rough from outside and dense and soft from inside.
The Mountain Bulldogs are kind and gentle dog breed that is suitable for all ages. They are loving, affectionate, docile and tractable dogs that are eager to please their owners. They are very kind and gentle with children and get along well with other dogs and pets in the family. These dogs are protective of their family, alert to their surroundings and wary of strangers. This makes them very good watch dogs. They are active dogs outside and relatively inactive indoors. They are low endurance dogs that will only need fair amount of exercise to be happy. These sensitive and loyal dogs require gentle training and will not respond to harsh treatment. They are excellent family pets and very good watch dogs.
The Mountain Bulldogs are low on endurance and should not be exercised too hard. Also, they may have a compromised breathing system of a Bulldog which makes them vulnarable to weather extremes so they should be kept inside when the weather is too hot or too cold.
They are intelligent and eager and willing to please dogs that can be trained with gentle and love based training. These dogs will need a firm yet gentle trainer as they do not respond to harsh training methods.
The Mountain Bulldogs will need moderate amount of exercises to remain fit and happy. A daily walk should take care of their exercise needs.
