BREED DETAILS

GENERAL
The Pakistani Bull Dog is also known as Gull Dong and Bully Gull Terrier. This large and ferocious dog originated in old Colonial India and present day Pakistan by cross breeding of Locan Indian Terrier with the Bully Kutta. With its fierce and grumpy nature, this dog is widely used in dog fighting as well as guard and protection dog. This dog has the best qualities of its progenitors which give it power and size of Bully Kutta and speed and agility of Gul Terr, making it a great fighter. This large dog stands between 30-36 inches and weighs around 120-200 lbs. This massive dog has a large head with erect, semi-erect or doped ears. The body is full and round with robust and muscular shoulders. The chest is wide and deep. It is a very powerful and strongly built molosser type dog that is surprisingly agile for its massive size. It has a short coat that comes in pure white to gray and wheat colours. This dominant breed is relatively unknown outside Pakistan and India. It is NOT recognized by AKC or any other major kennel club.

COLOR
This dog comes in different colours that range from white, black, gray and brindle though white Gull Dongs are most common.

COAT
The Gull Dong has short, smooth and flat coat that is easy to maintain.

PERSONALITY
The Gull Dong is a dominant and aggressive breed of dog that is most suitable for guarding and protection purposes. This dog is extremely loyal to its immediate family and with its fearless and courageous nature, it will readily take appropriate action to defend its family from threat. This agile dog is wary of strangers and territorial, making an excellent watch and guard dog. Due to its dominant and aggressive nature, this dog is very dog aggressive and may not get along well with other dogs unless properly socialized and trained. The Gull Dong is known for its beat hunting ability. A single Gull Dong can successfully take on a bear. Despite its aggressive nature, the Bull Dong can be a very loving and affectionate dog for its master and family. It is obedient and respectful to its master and docile to its family. It is gentle with children, specially if raised with them from puppyhood. The Gull Dong is a rugged and serious working breed that will take the job in hand very seriously. It needs a very firm and dominant owner who can understand its behavior. Untrained dogs become hard to control. Proper training, along with the proper amount of exercise and a firm pack leader, will produce a tranquil, obedient dog. Socialize very thoroughly when young to combat aggressive tendencies and be sure to keep the dog under control when other dogs are present. A well trained Bull Dong can be a very loving and affectionate family dog besides being an extremely loyal and faithful watch/guard dog.

CARE
Short coat of this breed is low maintenance. It require occasional brushing to keep the coat clean.

TRAINING
The Gull Dong needs a firm and assertive owner who understands this dog's behavior and train it accordingly. This dog needs training not to be overly aggressive towards strangers and learn to tell foe from friends. Also, training should be aimed at reducing its aggressive nature if it is to be used as a family pet. This intelligent breed learns fast with a true packleader.

ACTIVITY
This breed of dog is very energetic and hard working and as such, this athletic dog needs a lot of daily exercise and will thrive with a job to do. They love strenuous activity, preferably combined with training of some kind, for these dogs are very intelligent and crave a good challenge. They need to be taken on a daily, brisk, long walk, jog or run alongside its master.
