The Pembroke Sheltie breed is a hybrid mix of the Shetland Sheepdog and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breeds. Extremely smart and brave, they are also loyal and protective dogs to their masters. Keep them balanced by being a pack leader and giving them regular exercise to consume their excess energy.
The Pembroke Sheltie's color can vary from their parent's colors but they usually come in Brown/White.
The breed's coat are dual having an outer and under coat. They shed only twice a year but regular brushing is still highly recommended. Bathe or dry shampoo only when you think they are necessary.
This breed are smart, loyal, very brave and protective dogs. As they are very intelligent dogs, do not allow this dog to be a pack leader of a family as it will result to unwanted behavior. They have extremely high herding instinct from their ancestors so they tend to herd either people or cars.
As the Pembroke Sheltie breed came from both breeds prone with eye problems, it is strongly recommended that their eyes be cared for extremely. Also, proper diet and nutrition should be given to avoid overfeeding and obesity. Regular grooming is also recommended to achieve proper hygiene.
This breed is a smart cross between two intelligent breeds making them very easy to train as they also enjoy pleasing their owners. Training should be done in a gentle positive manner. Harsh training never brings good results. They should also be exposed to people and other pets to avoid an over-protective behavior.
The Pembroke Sheltie breed are very active dogs which means they need their daily exercise to keep them balanced dogs and void obesity. They enjoy playing with the family in a fenced area.
