BREED DETAILS

GENERAL
The Pitweiler breed is a mixed breed from half American Pit Bull Terrier and half Rottweiler breeds. Also called Rottweiler Pit Bull mix, Bullrott, Prott, RottPit and many more. The breed is developed to be a great family companion. Pitweilers are emotional, loving and affectionate dogs. They can be a powerful dog and will have a great temperament as long as they were socialized properly while they were young. This breed has the strong tendency to be highly active and dominating. If provided with enough exercise and activities along with a human with strong leadership skills, they should be happy and well-balanced dogs. The breed can also be great with kids. However, you will not want to leave them unsupervised with an infant or smaller child. They make wonderful watchdogs as they would die fighting for their masters. They also have the uncanny skill to know if danger is ahead.

COLOR
This dog's coat color can vary widely but mostly would depend on It's parent's coat colors.

COAT
This breed's coat can vary from very short to sleek just like it's predecessor breeds: the Pit Bull and the Rottweiler. Regular brushing will keep it looking good. Rubbing their coat with a wet towel or chamois will make it gleam.

PERSONALITY
The Pitweiler dogs are affectionate, emotional and loving. They are very loyal, noble and courageous which makes them wonderful guard dogs especially that they have an instinct to feel danger if there is any. They can be an extremely loving dog that they will die for their master. They are naturally friendly and make a great family dog as long as they were properly socialized as a puppy. The female Pitweilers may sometimes have problems with another female dog in the house. They are great with kids but should never be left alone with smaller children.

CARE
The Pitweilers are easy to care for their short coated hair. Bathing should be done as needed but make sure to cover their ears with cotton to avoid the water from getting inside. Preventing water from getting inside the ear canal as this can lead to a very painful ear infection. As this is a mixed breed dog, their health issues will greatly vary. Known health issues with the Pitweilers is with hip dysplasia, dry skin and allergy with chicken.

TRAINING
These dogs need to be trained by a firm, consistent and strong human with pack leader skills. It will also be more beneficial if they are trained at an early age as it can be a challenge if they grow old without training. They also need to be socialized early in life.

ACTIVITY
The Pitweiler mix is a dog with very high energy. They need vigorous exercise daily to keep them happy and balanced dogs. They thrive on these activities that keep them challenged. As long as they are kept active with lots of exercise and play, they should be fine in an apartment or small living space.
