BREED DETAILS

GENERAL
The Pom-Coton breed is a cross between the Coton De Tulear and the Pomeranian breeds. These dogs usually look like their predecessor breed Coton De Tulear for their cotton-like hair. This dog is highly trainable as they are intelligent, quick learners, eager to please and work dogs. They are very sociable and affectionate which makes them perfect as family dogs. They get along very well with children and other house pets.

COLOR
This breed's coat color usually comes in White but sometimes with patches of Gray or Yellow.

COAT
This dog's long, double coated hair needs to be brushed and combed regularly to keep it looking beautiful and tangle-free.

PERSONALITY
The Pom-Cotons are intelligent, eager to learn, eager to please and very loyal that makes them highly trainable. Suitable as a family dog, they are affectionate to their humans and very sociable that they can get along well with children as well as other house pets. They also make great watchdogs even for their small size.

CARE
This breed needs careful grooming for their very long, double coated hair. Bathing and dry-shampooing should only be done as necessary. Be careful that they do not overheat in hot weather. Their coats should never block their vision so make sure that it does not block their eyes. This usually leads to an insecure dog.

TRAINING
This dog needs a firm, consistent handler that would provide them proper leadership. As a small dog, it can become a challenge to housebreak them. They also tend to be stubborn but a patient, confident, calm and assertive behavior of the handler should give this dog a stable, content and balanced life.

ACTIVITY
The Pom-Coton dogs are highly active and alert dogs. They are very well with agility skills in terms of dog sports. As long as they are taken to their long daily walks, they can do well in apartment or small space living. Play would also help drain their energy and running in a secured, fenced area but they still need to satisfy their primal instinct to walk.
