The Poochin dog breed is a hybrid or designer breed dog. This is not pure breed dog. The origin of the breed is a mix developed from the Poodle and the Japanese Chin breeds. They are also known to be Poo-Chin, Chinpoo and Chin-Poo. This dog seems to have moved away from the look of their Japanese Chin predecessors. Their upturned nose is set on its broad muzzle which only about an inch short. Their dark colored eyes are set widely and are almost round in shape. Their ears are flappy with some feathering and almost reach their jaw line. They are naturally quiet, friendly, happy, fun-loving dogs who love children. They could easily get along well with other household pets. This makes them suitable as family dogs. They need very little exercise and are fine indoors most of the time but they still need to be walked. This dogs are hypo-allergenic as they shed little to none.
The Poochin's coat can be Black, White, Tan, Gray, White/Tan or Gray/White.
This dog's wavy medium to long in length coated hair is light to none shedding. Very suitable for people who have allergy issues or just don't want to deal with dog hair. Their coats will require frequent brushing to keep it looking good and free from tangles. Cutting should be done 4-8 weeks.
These dogs are naturally happy, alert and fun-loving dogs. They get along well with other household pets generally. They make great family dogs as they are very affectionate, excellent with children and loves human interaction. They are naturally quiet and friendly dogs. They are not known to be barkers. The Poochins are a lot stronger than their size and are very robust little dogs.
These dogs need to be groomed on a regular basis. Clean their faces daily to keep it free from stains especially for the White coated hair. Bathe and dry shampoo only when necessary. A professional groomer is recommended to cut their hair. Make sure that their vision is free from hair. Either tie it up in a knot or have the groomer cut it short. Their nails need to be cut occasionally. The Poochins do not do well in extremely hot or extremely cold weather conditions. Keep them cool during the warm weather by keeping them hydrated, swimming, keep them in the shade or schedule the walks during the cooler hours of the day. On the other hand, keep them warm during the cold weather by keeping their activities indoors and using dog sweaters during their walks.
The Poochins are smart and are eager to please their owners but can require extra work during training. As a small dog, it can be challenging when it comes to housebreaking. Do not allow these dogs to take over the household. They tend to do this when they feel that no one is filling the pack leader position. A human should be the pack leader and never the dog. When this happens, the dog could become destructive and develop behavioral issues. A proper leadership from a firm, consistent, calm, assertive human should be able to correct this as early as possible. Otherwise, the problem could escalate.
These dogs do not require too much exercise. A good walk everyday and a little play time should be beneficial. They will do fine in an apartment as they enjoy living indoors although walks are still important.
