The Poogles dog breed is not a purely bred dog. They are called hybrid or designer breed dog types developed from half Poodle and half Beagle breed. Poogles are also called Beapoo or Beagapoo. This hybrid originated in the United States during the 1980s. They can weigh 11-25 lbs. on the average. Smaller Poogles are from the Miniature Poodle while the larger ones are from the Standard Poodle. Their body is solid, rectangular in shape and longer than the dog's height. The neck is slightly longer than average; chest is moderately large and deep while the head is typically carried proud. The head is more like the Beagle in shape. There is lots of wavy hair across their muzzles, cheeks and forehead. They have large round eyes, very intelligent and friendly looking. Their ears are medium long and hang down lower than the jaw line. Poogles are very fun, exciting, outgoing, friendly and crave human interaction. Very suitable as watchdogs and family dogs. They like being around children and other dogs. If properly socialized, they can get along well with other non-canine house pets. This dog is sheds very light and they can be hypoallergenic.
This dog's coat can come in a variety of colors. This includes the colors Washed-out tri-color, Black, Brown/White, Gray/Tan, Brown/White, Solid Brown.
The Poogle's grooming requirements depends on the coat type that they inherit. They can have the thicker coat like the Poodle or the shorter thinner coat like the Beagle. The longer the coat, the more grooming requirement it will need. Some Poogles may be hypoallergenic making it very suitable for families with allergy issues. Shedding will be kept to a minimum if the longer curly coats can be clipped or tied up in a knot.
These dogs are very fun, excitable dogs that make them wonderful family dogs. They are outgoing, friendly and crave human interaction. They enjoy being around children as well as other dogs. They need to be socialized early to avoid problems with these dogs chasing cats and other house pets. They make amazing watchdogs with their barking capabilities.
This dog's grooming greatly depends on their coat type. Poogles who inherited the thicker coat from their Poodle predecessor will definitely require grooming more often than when they inherit a shorter, thinner coat from their Beagle predecessor. The longer, curly coats can be clipped in a Poodle clip or a puppy clip to keep their vision clear. The Poogles tend to over eat and can become overweight if their diet is not carefully guarded. Their teeth should be brushed regularly since puppyhood if you wish to keep it healthy longer. It will also be a good training for them that you are normally cleaning their teeth making it easier to do each time.
The Poogles are great at obedience types of training. They are exceptionally intelligent that they could often seem to learn just by observing what is happening around them. In addition to their intelligence, they are very eager to please their masters making them learn very quickly while enjoying showing off their new tricks. Socialization need to be a part of their training as their hunting instincts from their Beagle predecessor could still kick in. Without proper socialization, they will tend to chase after other non-canine house pets.
These dogs enjoy exercising and are very active dogs. They like being indoors with their family but they also enjoy going outside to run and play in the dog park. They can be fine living indoors in an apartment as they can self-exercise but like any other dog, they need to satisfy their primal instinct to walk.
