The German Shorthaired Lab dogs are cross bred of German Shorthaired Pointer and Labrador Retriever purebreds. They are called hybrid dogs as they originate from two different pure breeds. They are large size dogs, standing no less than 28 inches and weighing around 79 pounds. They are thin but tall dogs with shiny, smooth, short and water repellent coat.
This breed is found in different colours like black, brown, red, white and yellow or a mix of these colours.
They have short, shiny and smooth coat that is water-repellent.
These dogs are alert, cheerful, social, intelligent and responsive dogs. They like human company and love to spend their time among family members. They are very loyal and protective of their family. They are very friendly, playful and gentle with children and make good playmates. Their even-temperament makes them 'safe' for children. They do not like to be left alone and may develop undesirable behaviors if left alone for longer periods of time. They are very alert and attentive dogs and make very good watch and guard dogs. They are very active and would need an active family who can fulfill their exercise needs.
Their coat requires average maintenance.
They are intelligent dogs and very fast learners but can get bored easily. Innovative training routines and rewards will help them train.
These dogs are very active and have high energy levels. They need lots of physical and mental stimulation to remain happy and fit. They would need 3-4 times outing in a week where they can run and play as they like. They are suitable for active families.
