AFADOR

Afadors are resposible, spirited and noble They are non noisy and respectful to strangers  They are generally known for stable and sound personality

AFGHAN HOUND

The Afghan Hound dog breed has a personality that tends to seem serious to humans, even aloof, reserved nature does not make them suitable for active children But Afghan Hounds can be quite playful with their families The Afghan Hound is not recommended for apartment life They are relatively inactive indoors and do best with a large yard However this breed can live in or outdoors, although it would be happier sleeping indoors The Afghan Hound is a loyal and affectionate breed, is also very sensitive and should be treated as such Without proper training and socialization, the Afghan Hound can become destructive and disobedience

AFRICAN WILD DOG

The African Wild Dog are very social animals that live in packs They fill the ecological role or niche of the wolf in Africa They do not hesitate to attack small hares or large zebras They specialize in preying and they do not hunt in relays but rather depends on endurance that is greater than their prey They can run at about 35 meters per hour for 3 miles or more  

ALPINE DACHSBRACKE

Fearless, friendly and intelligent, this dog is more commonly used in hunting than as family pet It is effectively used to as tracking hound to track down the wounded deer and scenting hound for fox and hare This dog is a very good companion and can endure harsh terrain and high altitudes Though not very fast, it is known for stamina, endurance and power It can follow a scent trail for long time without getting tired This breed is not aggressive and does not harm the wounded prey This trait makes these dogs very popular among hunters

 

As for family pets, they are generally good with all the family including children They can get along with other dogs and pets though they do have a strong prey drive Early age socialization and training will keep their prey drive under control when with house pets  

AMERICAN BLACK AND TAN COONHOUND

The American Black and Tan Coonhound is first and primarily a hunting dog It has an even temperament with an outgoing and friendly personality and shows traits of exemplary house pets This dog is mellow, amiable , calm and obtrusive indoors Being friendly with all members of the family, the dog is patient with children It generally listens to its master and behaves well This dog needs a confident and assertive master who can make the dog realize that he is superior to the dog  

 

It can get along with other dogs in the family very well as the American Black and Tan Coonhound is accustomed to working in a peck but they can become aggressive around strange and unknown dogs Early age socialization is a must for this dog  

AMERICAN BLUE GASCON HOUND

Despite being an specialized hunting dog, the American Blue Gascon Hound is very gentle and affectionate with its owner and family This loyal and faithful breed is very patient and gentle with children but can attack small animals due to its hunting background Early age socialization with other pets in the house becomes very important for this breed This breed is non-aggressive although can be mistaken as aggressive as they greet a guest with a howl and sniffing until satisfied  

 

Being a working and hunting breed, this dog will challenge a not so active owner as it needs to play and go for walk almost tirelessly It needs large space to play to bring its energy levels down and is not suitable for small houses with small yards This dog depends largely on its strong sense of smell and can be a hazard if food and garbage are left unattended

 

This dog makes a great family and hunting companion specially for families who use it as hunting dog  

AMERICAN BULLNESE HYBRID

This breed is pleasent, friendly, palyful, good natured clownish and courageous

AMERICAN FOXHOUND

Although sweet, affectionate, loyal, gentle and loving at home, the American Foxhound is still primarily a hunting dog and don’t always make good family pets, though he has had some success as a companion dog he is not particularly people oriented The American Foxhound due to their history as outdoor pack kennel hounds should not be trusted with non-canine pets, however they get along well with other dogs and are kind with children Once they pick up a scent the Foxhound will follow it no matter how hard you might command them to stop

AMERICAN STAGHOUND

The American Staghound is an excellent family pet despite its sighting and hunting background This dog is very affectionate and friendly with its family It displays a gentle and patient attitude towards children although care should be taken due to its size This breed is very calm and even-tempered around its family It gets along well with other dogs but can pose problems for smaller animals like cats It has strong prey drive and hunting instincts and can fall into believing small animals as its prey For this very reason, the dog should not be off-leashed in an unsecure area or it is likely to chase down small animals

 

This dog is alert and attentive to its surroundings and will signal alarm if it senses anything out of ordinary around it It is suspicious of strangers and will make a good watchdog The dog has poor territorial instincts and would be a poor guard dog

 

This dog is not so suitable for apartment life unless the owner is ready to take the dog for daily long walks and provide ample playtime This dog will live happily in a rural setting with plenty of open space to run and play

 

A well socialized and trained American Staghound proves to be an excellent family pet  

ANDALUSIAN PODENCO

The Andalusian Podenco dog is primarily used to persue/hunt small game It is an intelligent and devoted dog with high sense of scenting, sighting and hearing It can hear very low voices The breed is very fast runner with its athletic body and strong legs The dog is used either solely to persue and hunt small game or in pair with other dogs Large Andalusian Podenco are also used for scavanging roddents
