My English Mastiff is the best breed i've ever owned. Never chewed anything, runs out of yard to poop (we live on 80 acres), has his whole protective thing going on with strangers but has never been aggressive, plays gently with my 3 and 4 year old niece and nephew. I could go on and on. He just loves to lay his big head on my lap, but he mostly ends up sitting on me cause he still doesn't realize how big he is at 180 lbs.

I love the English Mastiff but this article is right in pointing out that you will most likely need to be the dominant owner to keep your huge dog obediant and under control. They can be real sweethearts but they are still a big dog and need direction.
