my boyfriend and i got a siberian husky in Febuary 2010. He is now 7 months old. He is very popular in our neighborhood adults and kids alike, wonderful with other dogs and makes the most beautiful howling/singing sounds. I was very worried when we first got him after hearing the horror stories of digging, chewing, escaping. We had a dog trainer work with us at home for 6 weeks and that helped alot. Main strategies are to let him run; he needs at least 1km everyday; preferably two seperate walks or else he strats torturing our smaller dog and gets quite worked up. also making him sit before feedings or leaving the yard or going outside keep me calm and submissive. Right now he is sleeping happily on the floor. We have a small home and small yard but as long as we get him out, include him in family outings, he is the most wonderful, beautiful amazaing family pet. We let him run without a leash in the country beside our vehicle. but we keep a close eye on him. he also goes off leash when we are visiting friends who live in the country. develop a strong bond and he will not run off; you have to keep an eye on him to assist him in resisting that instinct to chase, but it is possible to have these dogs loyal and off leash. We are living proof! good luck to all who have the privledge of being owned by one of these exquisite breeds! our life has never been the same since Harley came along ... :)

I recently just adopted a husky from a shelter. Her name is Jenna and she is the greatest dog ever. She is gorgeous I can't believe someone would have given her up. She is full of love and energy but she is very well behaved inside of my apartment. I walk her 5-7 times a day and she absolutely loves it. She is great with other dogs, a stray cat on the road and kids. I think she might try to eat a squirrel one day when I get my own house but that's a problem for another day. All in all she is a wonderful girl and is a lot of fun to be around!

I really, really want these beautiful and friendly dogs, I've researched the heck outta this breed. And yet, I can't have one or any kind of a dog. I probably won't be able to get one anytime soon(not for a few years); I'm sad about that. ;__; I wish fate would let this dog lover have a dog!

thank you for this very informative piece on the siberian huskk. we have been seeing some of these in the Philippines, and surprisingly they do quite well despite our being a tropical country.

Again, thanks for sharing:)

I love huskies and have owned them for 20 years. They're lovable, adaptable and fantastic family pets. My only comment to anyone considering one is this: huskies cannot be let off a leash.

I have a Siberian Husky and he is adorable. His name is Tundra and he loves to play. They are very energetic. We have to walk him at least two times a day other wise he will go crazy. He will pick on our other dog and just cause trouble. He is around my baby cousin a lot and he loves her. I hate when people say that they are dangerous because they love childern they couldn't hurt a fly! so yeah if you are energetic and can deal with the shedding a Siberian Husky might be good for you. They do need a lot opf room though they get so big! If you don't have a lot of room then make sure to take them for walks, they will need it!
