Danish-Swedish Farmdog

The Danish-Swedish Farmdog is also known as Dansk/Svensk Gaardhund, DANSK/SVENSK G�RDHUND or Danish-Swedish Farm dog. Native to Denmark and Sweden, it is an old dog breed that dates back to 17th century although some enthusiasts believe the breed is thousand years old. It is a multipurpose dog that has been used as farm dog to guard farmed animals, people and farm itself from intruders and strangers, as ratter and hunter dog.

It is a lively, friendly and easy going dog that makes a very good watch/guard dog as well as an excellent family pet and companion. Though the dog resembles to Jack Russell Terrier in appearance, it is more closely related to the Pinschers. It is a medium size dog that stands between 12-14 inches and weighs between 15-25 pounds. The head is small and triangular in shape with a broad and slightly rounded skull. Muzzle is well developed and narrowing towards the nose. Medium size eyes have kind and attentive expression. Medium size ears can be rose or button shaped. Strong neck is of medium length and slightly arched. Compact body has short, broad and slightly arched loins, long and deep chest with well sprung ribs and slightly tucked-up belly. The tail could be long, half bobtail or bobtail. This dog has short and smooth coat that is harsh to touch. It comes in white base colour with patches of many different colours.

This dog is NOT recognized by AKC however it is recognized by FCI.
