The Foxingese dogs are a result of crossing a purebred Toy Fox Terrier with a purebred Pekingese. They are called hybrid dogs as they are resulted from cross breeding of two different pure breeds. The Foxingese are small dogs not standing more than 12 inches and weighing around 13 pounds. They have features and characteristics of both parent breeds. They have compact body with dark eyes. The ears are floppy and nose is dark in colour. They have short feet and tail is curled upward. They are alert, loyal, intelligent and loyal dogs and with proper training, should make very cute and loving family and companion dogs.
The Foxingese are found in different colours derived from their parent breeds. Some common colours for these dogs are black, black and tan, red and white. They can have a mix of these colours as well as solid colours.
They can have a double coat like a Pekingese that can be long and rough on outer side and soft on the inner side or they can a Toy Fox Terrier coat that is short and fine.
These cute little hybrids are very loving and affectionate dogs. They are alert to their surroundings and can be very good watchdogs. They are intelligent and gentle dogs that make good companion dogs specially for older people. They are good with children and other pets and dogs in the house provided proper socialization and obedience training is provided to them from puppyhood. The Foxingese are very intelligent dogs and can learn new commands and tricks easily. They love to be with their family most of the time and will enjoy being the center of attention. They are very good family pets.
Their coat needs regular brushing and occasional grooming. The Foxingese have a tendency to develop Small Dog Syndrome which is a human induced behavior. In this state, the dog assumes the role of the pack leader and wants to lead 'HIS' family. In this state, these dogs can become vocal, aggressive, self-willed,growling, biting and excessive barking as they try to tell their master what he should do. This behavior can be treated when the owner assumes the pack leader role. These dogs would then get relaxed and back to being wonderful and loving dogs.
They are very intelligent dogs and are known to pick new tricks and commands easily. They are easy to train.
The Foxingese are very active dogs and would require regular walks and playing opportunities indoor and outdoor to relieve their mental and physical energies.
