The Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie was developed in 16th century in France by crossing English hounds with French hounds. The breed was used in packs as scent hounds to hunt small prey.
The dogs of this breed are medium in size with, well balanced and solid build with incredible hunting skills. The head slopes gently to the muzzle which is moderately long. The nose is prominent with wide nostrils. The eyes are large and soft with long dropped ears. The legs are straight, long and powerful and help the dog achieve very fast speeds. The tail extends elegantly from spine. The coat is short and comes in three colours. It can gain height from 16 to 22 inches and weight from 35 to 44 pounds.
The breed is NOT recognized by AKC however other dog associations and clubs like FKC, UKC recognize this breed.
