The Chinese Imperial Dog is a small size sturdy little dog that is bred for companionship. This happy and playful dog was originated in Imperial Palace of China. Once believed to be same dogs as Shih Tzu, the breed has recently been accepted as a separate breed.
It has a height of up to 9 inches and should weight 4-7 pounds. The head is large and round with eyes wide set apart. Eyes are large and round. Ears are dropped, well-coated, slightly below the top of the skull above eye level. Muzzle is wide and short with a moderate length nose that is in proportion to the face. Neck is long and graceful while body is short-coupled and sturdy with or without a slight tuck-up. Chest is broad and deep. Tail is set high and carried over the back. The double coat is either straight or slightly wavy and comes in all colours and markings.
