The Treeing Tennessee Brindle (TTB) is relatively a newly recognized breed of dog. Originating in USA, this brindled Cur breed was noticed in 1960s and efforts for its development started. These dogs have excellent abilities to tree and trail game. It is believed that the Plott Hounds and the Mountain Curs played an important role in the development of the breed.
This breed is a variation of an American coonhound. However, the Treeing Tennessee Brindle is not as large as other coonhounds. These medium size dogs stand between 16-24 inches and weigh around 30-50 pounds. These dogs stand out from other breeds for their cat-like paws, distinctive bark and brindle coat. These dogs are exceptionally skilled at sending the prey up a tree and holding it there until the master arrives. With excellent scenting sense, this breed can sniff out all kind of game.
This medium size breed comes with dome flat head, heavy muzzle, ears set high appearing short or medium, wide space between the dark colour eyes, back straight and strong, deep broad chest, and tail medium length and straight. The TTB has a dense and smooth coat that comes in mostly brindle colouring.
This breed is NOT recognized by AKC or any other major kennel club however it is registered with AKC(FSS) since 1995.
