Tasy is also known as Tazi, Taji, Tadzi and Mid-Asiatic Borzoi. It is a medium to large sighthound breed that is used to hunt bare, fox, gazelle, wildcat, marmot and even wolf. A Turkish version of Afghan Hound, the exact origination of Tasi is unknown though it is believed that this dog was developed in 18th century from Barzoi, Whippet and Afghan Hound.
Basically a Sighthound, the Tasy specialize in pursuing its prey, keeping it in sight and overpowering it by its agility. Having a slim head, a slender waist, a broad chest and lean legs help them to chase their prey faster than most hound dogs. Mostly all the Tasys are thin skinned. The Tasy has hazel colored large oval eyes, dark nose, a narrow muzzle and a thin twisted tail. Though a sighthound, the Tasy has great sense of smell which it uses during hunt.
This dog stands between 22 to 28 inches and weighs around 55-80 lbs. It has a silky coat that comes in tan, black & tan and grey colours.
This breed is NOT recognized by AKC or any other major kennel club.
