Rampur Greyhound

The Rampur Greyhound dog is a member of the sighthound family that originated from the Rampur region of Northern India. It is substantially built and is often described as a smooth haired sighthound in North West of India. The Maharajahs favored them from the sighthound family for their jackal control but the dog is also used for hunting other wild animals like tigers, lions, leopards and panthers. To take down a golden jackal was considered to test the dog's courage. The Rampurs are capable of great endurance as they are built to cover great distances at a very high speed.

These dogs love human companionship. They are one-person dogs that owners should adopt and train from a very young age. Thus, owners should do their research on the dog before taking them in as this dog is not for the inexperienced dog owner. They are very loyal dogs that they make great watch and guard dogs.

They require a lot of dedication for their size and exercise may take plenty of time. They need plenty of space and may not be happy with small space living. Grooming is fairly easy and should never be a problem but they will require a comfortable soft bedding to avoid their skin from developing sores.
