Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka is a small Bichon type dog that originated in Russia and further developed in Germany. This breed was developed from Bichon Frise,Lhasa-apsos, Toy poodles, Shi-Tzu, French bolognese and pekingese as well as local small fluffy mongrel dogs. The term "Bolonka" refers to two small dogs, one is the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka and the other is Franzuskaya Bolonka. There is no difference except for coat colour. The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka can come in all colours except white which should never exceed 20% of body color if it is present. The Franzuskaya, on the other hand, is all white. "Bolonka" in Russia, means lapdog and "Tsvetnaya Bolonka" means colourful lapdog.

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka is a small dog that stands between 7-10 inches and weighs 3-10 lbs. It has a small yet moderately boned body. The dog has a profuse, dense and thick, silky coat which comes in all colours except white.

This breed is NOT recognized by AKC or any other major kennel club.
